We want you to feel comfortable coming to our Colorado Springs office for all your care through every stage of life. If there’s ever anything we can do to provide additional support and comfort, just let us know.
What Is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry uses medication to help you relax while in the dental chair. Depending on your health needs, our team may use oral medications to keep you at ease through every procedure.
Although it’s sometimes called sleep dentistry, the medications don’t usually put you completely to sleep. Instead, they create a twilight state that helps you stay calm, relaxed, and comfortable from the beginning to the end of your appointment.
Deep sedation is an option when necessary. We will look at your medical history, compare it to the procedure you need, and determine how to best help you cope with your upcoming dental procedures.
When To Get Sedation Dentistry Services
If you need help relaxing during your visit, we may recommend sedation dentistry. Just let us know and we’ll provide additional support if you experience the following:
- Anxiety
- Concern about potential discomfort
- Can’t remain still
- Want to relax and feel more comfortable
What To Expect During Your Visit
When you request sedation dentistry services, our team will make sure you’re a good candidate and learn more about your needs. We will schedule an initial consultation to speak with you about your concerns.
Be prepared to disclose a list of your medications and if you have had any issues with oral, or local anesthesia. We will then review your health history to select the right level of sedation.
Follow all the instructions given by our team before your appointment, such as not eating or drinking after a certain time. Then, have a trusted person drive you to our office and agree to wait onsite to bring you home after the procedure.
Once you’re in the dental chair, Dr. Thompson will give you the sedative medications. Our team will monitor your vital signs throughout the entire visit, ensuring that you stay safe and comfortable during the procedure.
You’ll be given aftercare instructions at the end of the visit and instructed to go home to rest and allow the sedative to wear off. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
